Nikki was born and raised in central Massachusetts, where she spent her early years in every style of dance (she even dabbled in Irish step and African style), sailing with her dad on their 32-foot sloop, and skiing with friends and family at Waterville Valley in NH. She went to undergraduate at University of Miami in Florida to change venues and study Physical Therapy and Biochemistry. She also joined Army ROTC and became a cadet, avid runner, rappel master and paratrooper.
Upon graduation, she was commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer. She spent over 5 years in the Army serving in various leadership and medical operations positions, finishing her service as a Company Commander for a 180 person unit. Nikki then moved to Denver to attend the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center to get her masters and doctorate in Physical Therapy. She started practicing with her mentor and was introduced to women’s health PT and how to integrate Pilates into treatment. She was a clinical director at a clinic for years in the west side of Denver, specializing in spine, Orthopedics and women’s health. She loved the opportunity to both work and learn from her colleagues, continue to nurture her leadership skills and to grow an amazing practice. She opened a second clinic for the same company, and then she and her husband got pregnant with their first child, Harrison.
They had their baby and then moved to the east coast for a two-year stint. Nikki started a business centered on babies and postpartum moms. And, then they got pregnant with Vivian. With two kiddos in tow, the family moved back to Denver, where Nikki spent lots of time studying under Dr. Shirley Sahrmann and her staff at Wash U in St Louis. She also pursued lots of continuing education in pelvic pain, manual therapy, taping, ASTYM, women’s health, Postpartum and prenatal care, and so much more. She also got certified in yoga (200 hours), in Pilates through Polestar, in massage therapy, and took coursework in nutrition and received her CSCS. She then received her board certification in Orthopedics and is currently pursuing her board certification in Women’s Health. She loves to help complex pain, autoimmune and multi-factorial issues.
Nikki also has an entrepreneurial spirit and pursues business opportunities when not raising her two children with her husband, Mark. She was a co-founder of a biomechanics software startup, she co-founded Women In Balance (a women’s retreat and wellness community business) and has another project in the works. She loves to run, ski, play with her kiddos, travel and enjoy all that Colorado has to offer. She and her husband enjoy the serial entrepreneur lifestyle and love to pursue exciting opportunities that come their way.
She is honored to be a part of the Well Set family.
